The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cost Analyst to join our Group FP&A Finance team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis in Manchester to cover a period of parental leave.
Reporting to the Group FP&A and Central Services Manager, you’ll work closely with the Technology teams to deliver high quality reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to the senior management team that will support key decision making.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure Technology costs are accurately reported, and variances to budget and forecasts are captured and fully understood.
- Development of budgets, forecasts and plans.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual cost KPI reports.
- Prepare and provide packs/reports to deliver analysis and discuss with the business and business partners. Gather and interpret cost data to analyse business performance, perform scenario analysis.
- Maintain a high level of focus on data quality and accuracy ensuring analysis provided to the business and business partners is of the highest standard.
- Feeding back incorrect data to the appropriate teams, working together to improve data quality and accuracy.
- Capture risks and opportunities to improve gross profit for the business.
- Update process flows, operating manuals, training guides, and standard operating procedures as needed.
- Support with any ad-hoc data analysis requests e.g. investment appraisals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives; and measure and realise sustainable benefits.
Minimum criteria
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with accounting and financial concepts.
- Knowledge of and experience with the analysis and reporting of financial and operational data, including the ability to gather, compile, and evaluate data from multiple sources.
- Experience of working in a large organisation and team environment.
- High standard of computer literacy with strong Excel capability (ability to create and use advanced formulae, pivot tables and dashboards) and Powerpoint skills a must with Hyperion experience preferable.

Key criteria
- Prior experience of managing Technology budgets is desirable
- Able to effectively communicate results in a clear and concise manner and process feedback
- Ability to meet the rigorous deadlines and to multitask and prioritise responsibilities
- Ability to work at both a detailed and high level i.e. detailed level required when understanding business drivers behind numbers and reports versus the ability to understand the audience and create information at a meaningful, relevant high level required for senior management.
- Willingness and ability to build excellent relationships across the business.
Centre of Excellence & The Team
What do we do day to day? Produce strategic plans, budgets & forecasts using driver based planning methods. Provide financial & operational reporting, supporting budget holders to understand actuals through to consolidated reporting at the Board level and working with our finance business partners to provide decision support activities, including what-if analysis, scenario analysis and modelling
